Know Your Agent
Dorothy Phelan was born and raised in Madison, along with her 6 sisters and 4 brothers. She attended St. Bernard's Grade School, East High and graduated from the UW, Madison with a BS in Nursing. While attending the UW, she played on the first Women's Varsity Soccer Team and managed the Wisconsin United Women's Team for many years. Dorothy is an avid pottery collector and Vice President of the Wisconsin Pottery Association.
She enjoyed working in PICU, NICU and Pediatrics for many years, until her interest in buying income property lead her to becoming a sales agent in 1996. After working for various large companies, she became a broker and opened Rainbow Realty in 1999. Since that time she has obtained further education in Buyer Agency and completed all of the classes for becoming a Certified Residential Specialist.
Dorothy admits that it was quite a shock moving from a profession where you are so trusted and respected to one where you are almost always mistrusted. But that has taught her that respect and trust must be earned. Her clients will attest to the fact that she is, indeed, trustworthy.
She enjoys working with people and participating in the excitement of finding and selling great homes for them. It reminds her of being in the delivery room while a child is being born. It is truly a monumental moment in people's lives and she feels privileged to be able to share it with them.
